CitySide Music is dedicated to bringing music and culture from across the globe to kids through instructional programs, presentations, and private tutoring in all aspects of world percussion. Programs focus on teamwork, leadership skills and community while honoring the authentic culture, rhythms, and techniques of each musical style.
Sign Up Open: Fall 2023 DrumHeadz
Students learn percussion instruments, their techniques and common rhythms while engaging in community-based music. Students will be assigned (and provided) an instrument to use during each session with the goal of developing solid technique and expanding on a myriad of rhythms for that specific instrument. The focus of each session is to engage students in music and culture while developing repertoire to be performed at a community performance in Oak Park. These classes are designed for kids 8-14 and will be offered on Saturdays from 12pm-1pm beginning in the Fall 2023.
Sign Up Open: Drums With Dad Fall 2023
Drums with Dad is designed to give Dads an opportunity to experience the joy of music alongside their child. This program introduces percussion instruments from around the world, while teaching proper playing techniques, authentic rhythms and engaging in rhythm games. There will be a strong focus on creating a fun environment, building community, and developing teamwork. These classes are designed for kids 5 and up and will be offered on Saturdays from 11am-11:45am beginning in the Fall 2023.
